Master Planning - Sugar Mill Olde Towne

Master Planning

Location: Houma, Louisiana

Size: 55 Acres

This 55 acre neo–traditional development is the first of it’s kind in Houma, Louisiana. The neo-traditional approach is based upon the idea of connectivity and community. Connectivity brings people together into real
communities. Communities that are connected not just by physical streets but by the ideas of knowing your neighbor and your neighborhood. It was very important for the development to have a major axis as an entry, and have one to two major public green spaces. A five minute walking distance was one of the major design
factors, short walking distances have a tendency to create togetherness. The physical make up of the development is a combination of different residential and commercial scales and styles indigenous to the area.
